Scarlett Johansson, American actress (born on November 22nd, 1985, in New York City New York) has earned acclaim due to her abilities to perform across genres such as the period dramas through thrillers to action adventures. Johansson is the daughter of a film producer and an architect, was born as a child in New York City. She and her twin brother Hunter were the smallest of the four siblings. She developed an interest in acting from a very young age. She began to audition for commercials around the age of seven. Then she began her studies at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and then attended the Professional Children's School in Manhattan to improve her skills. When she was eight, she performed in a role with Ethan Hawke in the Off-Broadway production Sophistry, and at nine she made her debut in film in Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson was next seen as a character in Just Cause (1996), however she was Manny & Lo 1996 that made her famous. The film tells the story of two girls orphaned and wandering off. After that, she earned an award for the role she played as one of the teens who sustained injuries that made her look a bit swollen as she appeared in The Horse Whisperer (1998). Her popularity grew with the film Ghost World (2001) as the cynical outcast Rebecca. Smith was offered her first role at the age of seven years old thanks to the assistance of her parents. For a commercial for a TV show, she starred as Dannon Yogurt. Similar to many young actresses she chose to develop her talents in the theater. Her work included various USA initiatives while also getting her stage debut with Wildflower. She attended her first Stonestreet Studios Conservatory, part of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
